This was a dissapointing result for Llan as we competed for most of the game despite losing influential player Craig Davies in the 23rd minute to a red card. Llan were quickest out of the blocks when Craig Davies turned inside a defender on the corner of the box and unleashed a rocket of a shot which grazed the crossbar with the keeper well beaten. Both teams played some good passing football but without threatening either keeper. In the 38th minute Dinas were awarded a penalty when Craig Hopkins was adjudged to have committed a foul. Steve John was up to the task and made a good double save. Just on half time Dinas lost David Brookes with a straight red for something said, which only the referee heard !!.
In the second half both sides continued to cancell each other out. The breakthrough came in the 58th minute when a long throw into the Llan box was called for by John in the Llan goal. He gathered the ball but lost it and was an easy tap in for the Dinas striker. On 72 minutes a penalty was awarded when Dinas made a quick break and the skill of the dinas forward caught out Craig Hopkins this time Steve John had no chance with a well struck penalty. Llan took the game to the visitors and a double substitution on 78 minutes saw Anthony Elwood and Damian Roberts being replaced by Josh Ellis and Ryen Matthews who is returning to action after a break in Tailand. Ebony Dixon could have made it 3 - 0 on 86 minutes when he blasted high and wide with the goal begging.
All in all considering the difference in leagues, Llan can be pleased with a fine performance against last seasons First Division runners up. We would like to wish Dinas manager Mark Jones and his team all the very best for the next round, and we look forward to our next encounter with Dinas whenever it may be !!!
